How OPA-O's came to be. Stewart has been making sloppy joes for over 30 years. He has made them, by request, for church functions, charity events and basically as he put it “everytime my wife told me to”. The idea to turn his famous seasoning mix into a company, OPA-O's, didn’t come until he lost his job in early 2009. As we can all attest to, the economy took a turn for the worse and affected businesses nationwide. Stewart was one of the many that lost his job during this economic down time. Like many, Stewart went through the emotional phase of “What do I do now???” and then began looking for ways to make money. After much praying he soon realized he had a great business just waiting to grow right in front of  him. He turned what seemed a tragedy into an amazing journey and business opportunity. Now after months of  preparation OPA-O’s made its debut at the 2009 Nebraska State Fair and you will find it on the shelves of your local grocery stores! What does OPA-O's mean? 'Opa' means many things in different languages. In German/Dutch 'Opa' means grandpa and those who know Stewart Olson will attest to the fact that he is a wonderful grandpa; hence the name Opa-O’s. Opa also is used by Greeks in celebration, which is what your taste buds will do when you taste Opa-O’s no sodium seasoning.
